Lead Teacher: Hannah Lindsay Hannah Lindsay is thrilled to be joining the ELNS family and the Green Class this year. She comes from Knoxville, Tennessee where she had six years of early childhood experience in both the classroom and administrative roles. She attended Carson Newman University and earned her Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance certificate through Roane State Community College. Mrs. Lindsay has one daughter who is a current ELNS student. She enjoys party planning, crafting, family walks with her daughter, husband, and dog and is currently learning to quilt.
Assistant Teacher: Denise Wright Mrs. Wright moved from Northern Virginia to the Richmond area in August 2018. She has over 20 years experience in early childhood. She joined the ELNS staff in January 2019 as a substitute teacher, and has been a long term sub in both the one year old and two year old classrooms. Mrs. Wright and her husband have 2 adult children. Besides spending time with her family and two grandpuppies, she enjoys reading and scrapbooking.
Lead Teacher: Jennie Schuetze: Mrs. Schuetze has been a part of the ELNS family since 2003 as a lead teacher and assistant teacher with our 2 and 3 year old classes. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Christopher Newport University. Mrs. Schuetze has 2 daughters, 17 and 13, who both graduated from ELNS. Her children keep her busy in the dance studio and the band room. She enjoys reading and selling Thirty-One in her spare time and occasionally working out.
Assistant Teacher: Liz Nygren: Ms. Liz joined ELNS in January 2019 as a floater and a substitute teacher. She is returning this year to work as the Assistant Teacher in the Orange Class. Ms. Liz has taken coursework in early childhood development and plans to continue her studies in this area. She has worked with children regularly since she was a young adult. She has one son, Johnny, who is a student here at ELNS. Ms. Liz enjoys reading, playing tennis, crafting, and spending time with her son.
Floating Assistant Teacher (M/W/F): Patty Engle Miss Engle earned a BA in elementary education from Indiana State University. After retiring from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis IN, she moved to Virginia to be closer to her daughter. This is her 2nd year at ELNS. She has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Besides traveling to visit all the grandchildren, she loves to bake and read.
Floating Assitant Teacher (T/W/Th): Nicole Sawyer
Lead Teacher: Hannah Fritzemeier Mrs. Fritzemeier, also known as Mrs. Fritz by the children, grew up in Louisa VA and has an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Reynolds Community College. Mrs. Fritzemeier has been working with preschool aged children since 2009 and has been the lead teacher in the Blue Class at ELNS since 2014. She has loved getting to know all the students and families that have come through her classroom. She also enjoys volunteering with her church’s children’s ministries. Mrs. Fritzemeier is married and enjoys traveling with her husband. They especially enjoy visiting Disney theme parks. In her spare time Mrs. Fritzemeier also enjoys shopping at vintage shops, crafting, and baking.
Assistant Teacher: Sultana Sultani Ms. Sultana, also known as Ms. S to the children, grew up in Kabul, Afghanistan where she completed 2 years of college. She has 12 years of experience in early childhood. She is happily married and has two kids of her own. She has a son that is 22 years old and a daughter that is 17 years old. Her son is a senior attending VCU and working toward a career in the exercise science field. Her daughter is a freshman in college, works full time for a law firm and plans to go into the law field. Ms. S has been working in the church’s nursery every Sunday for 12 years and counting.
Lead Teacher: Lorna Kennedy Mrs Kennedy joined the ELNS staff as Lead Teacher in September 2018, however she knows and loves the school dearly. Her 2 oldest children are Epiphany graduates, and her youngest child is a current ELNS student. She has over 10 years experience working with children, and has certified training in Early Childhood Education. Mrs Kennedy achieved a BA(hons) degree in Environmental Planning and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education back in her native Scotland. Mrs Kennedy loves to visit art galleries and museums, and spending time outdoors with her husband and 3 children.
Lead Teacher: Lindsay Sanchez Mrs. Sanchez joined our staff at ELNS in early 2015 as a substitute teacher. She has since been both a lead and an assistant teacher in the green class. Mrs. Sanchez and her husband moved their family to Richmond from New York City in 2012. She graduated from CUNY at Brooklyn College with a degree in Speech Language Pathology and a minor in Children’s Studies. Her years of experience prior to ELNS include religious education instruction, ESL instruction, general education after school tutoring, and private childcare. Mrs. Sanchez is a mother of 3 girls. Her youngest, Olivia, is a current student of ELNS. .
Assistant Teacher: Kelly Scruggs Ms Scruggs joined ELNS in August of 2018. She graduated from VCU with a bachelor’s degree in early and elementary education. She is also a performer and teacher of improv comedy at CSz Richmond Theater. Kelly has been performing improv since she was 12 years old. Her background in improv and teaching make for a wonderful and fun combination. She’s always loved kids and knew this was were she would end up eventually. Kelly also loves three toed sloths. Like a lot.
Teacher:Tom Stevens Mr. Stevens earned his music performance degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He is a member of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and is a faculty member at the University of Richmond. The children really love when he brings his own instruments to play in the class. Mr. Stevens is married and has 2 children in elementary school that both attended ELNS. This is his 5th year as our music teacher.
